The Wandering Kibbutz
Agriculture rehabilitation project
Agriculture is a cornerstone of the economy in the Western Negev and northern communities, and plays a central role in the rehabilitation of kibbutzim and the wider region. The war created significant challenges in continuing agricultural work and caring for livestock, leaving kibbutz members struggling to maintain their primary livelihoods. in response, the Kibbutz Movement developed an innovative model to attract young Israelis to agricultrual work. This model combines agricultural employment with social and cultural engagement for approximately 40 young adults aged 20-25, who live in "young adult villages" and work in kibbutzim according to each community's needs.
