The Western Negev and Galilee Project

Documentation and Commemoration Project of the October 7 Events

Yad Yaari and Yad Tabenkin are the archival and research institutions of the Kibbutz Movement, operating for decades to preseerve the kibbutz story. Since October 7, their primary mission has been to document and commemorate this dramatic moment in the movement's history, while clarifiying, renewing, and validating the updated kibbutz identity. This initiative seeks to tell the story of past, present, and future: making historical and archival materials accessible; documenting the events of October 7; conducting research on the Western Negev; collaborating with other documenting organizationsl running comphrehensive public engagment; and, above all, giving voice to the people and communities navigating the long rehabilitation journey after the trauma they experienced. The Rehabilitation Fund supports this initiative financially and through ongoing creative collaboration, recognizing that this is a historic moment in which the Kibbutz Movement must preserve the story of the survivors' heroism while safeguarding memory, historical record, and the contributions of kibbutzim to Israeli society and the State of Israel.
